Background and Position

  • Since 2022: Bioinformatics engineer
  • 2020 – 2022: Master of Science degree in Bioinformatics (Computing and Integrative Biology)
    • Internship: “Visual behavior of surgical trainees during virtual reality simulator”
  • 2017 – 2019: Master of Science degree in Ethology (Human and Animal Behavior)

Research areas

i-SaferS project: Intelligent Context-awareness for Increased Safety and Quality in Robot-Assisted Surgery. We assume that a surgical procedure goes through several critical moments that, if performed correctly, are warrants of the quality of the procedure. The project aims to introduce and study a new concept of automatic assessment of those critical moments to improve surgeon performance, reduce both peri- and post-operative complications, and ultimately increase the safety and quality the surgery (robot-assisted hysterectomy).

SPARS project: Sequential Pattern Analysis in Robotic Surgery: Understanding Surgery. Semantic and procedural models of surgical knowledge using knowledge elicitation as a top-down approach, and their validation from experts’ knowledge and practice (robot-assisted hysterectomy).
